It’s hard to believe we’re already approaching the halfway point of Q2. Before we know it, summer will be here—and for many orthodontic and dental practices, that means one of the busiest and most important seasons of the year.
The most successful practices don’t simply hope for a great summer. They prepare for it.
Now is the time to be intentional about your systems, your schedule, your team communication, and your new patient experience. A little planning today can make a tremendous difference in your growth, production, and team morale over the next several months.
Rather than highlighting a specific Master Class this month, I wanted to focus on several key areas every practice should evaluate right now to set themselves up for an amazing summer season.

As you begin planning for the months ahead, ask yourself:
Do you know your local school schedules?
- When do schools let out?
- When do they return?
- Are there holiday breaks, camps, or local events that may impact scheduling?
Is your schedule optimized for summer demand?
- Historically, are mornings busier during summer months?
- Would an earlier start time create additional opportunities for starts and appointments?
- Are your doctors and team members aligned on availability and vacation schedules?
Are you creating excitement and buzz within your practice?
- Consider themed days.
- Host patient appreciation events.
- Create social media campaigns highlighting summer smiles.
- Encourage patient referrals through fun contests and rewards.
Have you reviewed your numbers from last summer?
Your own data is often your best roadmap.
Take time to review:
- New patient volume
- Start conversion rates
- Most popular consultation days and times
- Most productive treatment start days
- Schedule flow and bottlenecks
- Marketing initiatives that worked
- Marketing initiatives that didn’t work
Your numbers will help guide your decisions and allow you to be proactive rather than reactive.
The practices that consistently grow are the ones that plan ahead, monitor their metrics, and intentionally create exceptional patient experiences.
